I worked for three years at a pet store in Chile that was also a veterinary clinic. During that time, I spent every day with different patients who came in for food or medical care—cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, and even turtles! It was a dream job, where I not only guided pet owners in choosing the best food and products for their babies but also assisted in some medical procedures by holding patients.

I’ve always loved being around animals. I’ve also cared for my own cats when they were sick—Cleo had to use a feeding tube for a while and later underwent knee surgery. Joche recovered from pancreatitis. Both situations required knowing how to administer medication in a pet-friendly way and, most importantly, lots and lots of love.

I feel a truly special connection with animals. I love them deeply, care for them, and respect them all.

This is my first time living away from my home country for such a long time and so far away. While it can be challenging at times—due to the language barrier and the loneliness that often comes with migration—the love for animals is universal. Their affection makes me feel at home, and it brings me a sense of comfort in a new place.
