My parents always had a reason why it wasn't practical having a pet in our house. I decided I'll have a pet the moment I move out of the house. I went to university where I lived in a hostel with three other people. The hostel had a lot of rules and one of them was not to own pets. Two years went by. I was desperate for a pet. I decided I'm getting one but without the janitors knowing. If it's a cat or a dog, they'll definitely know. And it is not fair to the pet to have it locked in a room the whole day. I ended up buying two beautiful hamsters. Candy and Bugsy. They lived their two best years with me. They had six kids. My friends adopted the kids and it was just the parents with me again. Until I came to Germany for an exchange program. I left them with my parents.
Here, in Germany, it wasn't actually practical for me to own a pet because I won't be staying here for a long time. So I volunteered at the local Tierheim. I worked there for at least 6 hours every week. I played with the pets, cleaned their kennels. I had a good time working there. I can not volunteer now, because I study now at the Hochschule and that takes up most of the time. But I thought I could help people who face similar issues. What if their work requires travel? What happens to the pets? And I think this idea of pet-sitting is a good idea. It definitely works for me before I can settle and own a pet for my own.
I am a student at the Hochschule Darmstadt during my Master's degree. I don't have a lot of lectures which is nice because I get to stay home with your pet for a long time. I live in a flat share on the top floor with two of my friends. So even if I'm not home, there definitely will be someone. It's very rare when there's no one at home. It is comparatively a small flat and quite old. But we have two beautiful gardens. They are fenced but not high enough. We don't have any pets in the WG at the moment, but there are three friendly humans in this flat to show love to your pet. I am looking forward to seeing your pet and you.
I can also come to your house to look after your pets for a few hours (maybe a night). I'm more interested. I adjust quickly to different surroundings. Your pets can stay comfortably at your home and I can look after them (as well as your house).
I can speak German, but not so fluently. But, I'm pretty sure your pet will understand me. :)
