Renata

My name is Renata and my family is me, my husband and our big baby Milo. We are Brazilian and have lived in Germany for 1 year. We live in a big apartment near the riverside. We are lovers of hiking and long walks, which is more than necessary when you have a border collie. 

When we came to Germany, we left Milo in Brazil at a hotel/training kennel while we prepared to bring him over. It was a difficult period, but we couldn't make him go through such a big change in his life without making sure that Bamberg would be our home. We adopted Milo when he was 5 months old, after having two different families and losing the last one to covid. We had also lost our first canine son, Jorginho, and we were devastated. Our losses brought us together and I gained a second chance to love and protect this amazing animal.

During this period without Milo, I took a colleague's dog for a walk and I realized how happy it made me, it brightened my day. Dogs are our best companions, our most precious goods, and living in a community where we can support and care for each other is of immense importance, especially for us immigrants who live far from family and friends. I want to be able to trust someone to take care of my son like I do, and be able to reciprocate.

I only work in the morning and my husband starts his work at 10, so we don't have to leave Milo alone for a long time. And when we need to go out for a few moments, we have a robot to see what he's doing, receive messages in real time if he's barking, it has a microphone so we can talk to him and it also throws snacks when we trigger it. It's fantastic.

Our building has a small garden at the back where we can leave him free to do his needs if necessary. But every day we take him for long walks or take him to play in a huge field that we have right next to our apartment. As Milo is already trained, we maintain a daily training routine to keep him obedient and behaved.
