Ich bin mit Tieren aufgewachsen und habe über 12 Jahre Erfahrung mit Hunden, Katzen und kleinen Nagern. Unser erster Familienhund kam zu uns, als ich sieben war. Später haben wir eine traumatisierte Hündin aus Rumänien adoptiert, mit der wir Stück für Stück Vertrauen, Sicherheit und ein liebevolles Zuhause aufgebaut haben. Dabei habe ich gelernt, wie wichtig Geduld, ruhige Kommunikation und Körpersprache sind. Auch Meerschweinchen und eigene Hamster habe ich mehrere Jahre lang eigenständig betreut. Heute besuche ich regelmäßig meinen Familienhund, gehe spazieren, pflege sie und achte auf ihre Gesundheit.

Ich habe eine besondere Schwäche für Katzen. Ich liebe es, mit ihnen zu kuscheln, kleine Spiele auszuprobieren oder einfach gemeinsam zu entspannen. Jede Katze ist anders, und ich passe mich ihrem Charakter an, egal ob verspielt, schüchtern oder selbstbewusst. Früher habe ich auch in der Kunstschule Katzen betreut, Körbe gebastelt und mich einfach mit ihnen beschäftigt, wenn sie gestreichelt werden wollten.

In meiner Wohnung herrscht eine ruhige, tierfreundliche Atmosphäre. Tiere haben Rückzugsmöglichkeiten, Spielzeug und genug Platz, um sich wohlzufühlen. Wenn ich neue Tiere betreue, nehme ich mir Zeit für eine behutsame Eingewöhnung, damit sie sich sicher fühlen. Bei mehreren Tieren achte ich darauf, dass jeder genug Aufmerksamkeit bekommt und friedlich miteinander auskommt.

Mein Tagesablauf passt sich den Tieren an. Morgens, mittags und abends gehe ich gerne spazieren, spiele Ball oder kleine Such- und Denkspiele, unternehme leichte Joggingrunden oder übe Tricks, wenn das Tier Lust dazu hat. Dazwischen gibt es Kuschelzeit, Streicheleinheiten, Futterpausen und ruhige Momente, während ich zu Hause zeichne oder nähe. Übernachtbetreuung ist problemlos möglich.

Ich behalte die Tiere stets im Blick, achte auf Sicherheit und Wohlbefinden und reagiere im Notfall besonnen. Ich habe Erfahrung mit oraler Medikamentengabe und habe die Telefonnummer eines Tierarztes jederzeit griffbereit. Zusätzlich kann ich kleine Tricks oder Trainingsübungen einbauen und passe mich immer dem Charakter und den Vorlieben jedes Tieres an.

I'm Yuko, a Berlin-based cat sitter and house sitter focused entirely on per-night overnight stays. Since 2018 I've completed more than 100 overnight sits across Berlin and Europe, and more than 10 homeowners rebook me year after year. I come to the owner's home, so the cat stays in their own territory the whole time. For most cats, that is the lowest-stress option, and it is the reason my whole practice is built around this format.
I've cared for the full personality range: confident lap cats, anxious hiders, bonded pairs, senior cats on daily medication, and cats recovering from surgery with cones, wound checks, and eye drops. I call myself a self-taught cat behaviourist because I read the science obsessively, which shows up in small ways: I notice the early signals (appetite, litter habits, posture, mood) and message you the same day if anything seems off. What is your motivation to be a pet sitter?
I love cats, and I love the quiet trust that grows between a cat and a sitter they feel safe with. Do you have previous experience?
Yes. I've been a full-time cat sitter since 2018, and I have completed more than 100 overnight sits so far. 10+ households rebook me every year. I don't keep a flat of my own. I move from sit to sit, and I usually take one to three longer housesits a month rather than many short ones. I've cared for cats across the full personality range: confident lap cats, shy hiders, senior cats, bonded pairs, and cats recovering from surgery. On the medical side: oral medications on schedule, eye drops, topical treatments, wound checks, and cone management. I also handle the house side reliably every sit: plants, mail, bins, parcel deliveries, and short conversations with German-only neighbours using a mix of translation app, gestures, and slowly improving Deutsch.
What info I need from you before a sit
Before a sit, I ask owners for a few practical things: medical notes, your vet's contact details, any medications your cat is on (only if any), and any special routines or needs I should follow. Since I always sit in your home and never host pets myself, vaccinations are the owner's responsibility. What I care about is that your cat is healthy and that the info is shared clearly. That way the sit runs smoothly for all three of us: you, me, and the cat  ‍
