I'm Yuko, a Berlin-based cat sitter and house sitter focused entirely on per-night overnight stays. Since 2018 I've completed more than 100 overnight sits across Berlin and Europe, and more than 10 homeowners rebook me year after year. I come to the owner's home, so the cat stays in their own territory the whole time. For most cats, that is the lowest-stress option, and it is the reason my whole practice is built around this format.
I've cared for the full personality range: confident lap cats, anxious hiders, bonded pairs, senior cats on daily medication, and cats recovering from surgery with cones, wound checks, and eye drops. I call myself a self-taught cat behaviourist because I read the science obsessively, which shows up in small ways: I notice the early signals (appetite, litter habits, posture, mood) and message you the same day if anything seems off. Photo and video updates go out every couple of days by default, more often if you prefer.
One more thing I grew up with: 立つ鳥跡を濁さず, a Japanese proverb meaning "a bird does not foul the nest it leaves." For me, that means I tidy up before I leave, so you come back to a calm home. 
What is your motivation to be a pet sitter?
I love cats, and I love the quiet trust that grows between a cat and a sitter they feel safe with. Overnight sits fit the calm, home-based routine I already live by, which makes me a natural match for cats who prefer steady company. Owners get overnight peace of mind, I get to care for cats I adore, and both sides win. That's why this has been my main work for years, not a side job.
Do you have previous experience?
Yes. I've been a full-time cat sitter since 2018, and I have completed more than 100 overnight sits so far. 10+ households rebook me every year. I don't keep a flat of my own. I move from sit to sit, and I usually take one to three longer housesits a month rather than many short ones. I've cared for cats across the full personality range: confident lap cats, shy hiders, senior cats, bonded pairs, and cats recovering from surgery. On the medical side: oral medications on schedule, eye drops, topical treatments, wound checks, and cone management. I also handle the house side reliably every sit: plants, mail, bins, parcel deliveries, and short conversations with German-only neighbours using a mix of translation app, gestures, and slowly improving Deutsch.
What info I need from you before a sit
Before a sit, I ask owners for a few practical things: medical notes, your vet's contact details, any medications your cat is on (only if any), and any special routines or needs I should follow. Since I always sit in your home and never host pets myself, vaccinations are the owner's responsibility. What I care about is that your cat is healthy and that the info is shared clearly. That way the sit runs smoothly for all three of us: you, me, and the cat  ‍


Ich arbeite seit fast drei Jahren in einer Tierarztpraxis und befinde mich aktuell kurz vor dem Abschluss meiner Ausbildung zur Tiermedizinischen Fachangestellten (TFA). Durch meine tägliche Arbeit habe ich viel Erfahrung im Umgang mit verschiedenen Tieren gesammelt – von Hunden und Katzen bis hin zu ängstlichen oder kranken Patienten. Auch privat spielen Tiere eine große Rolle in meinem Leben: Ich habe selbst fünf Katzen und kenne daher die Verantwortung und Bedürfnisse von Haustieren sehr gut. Ob Füttern, Spielen, Medikamente geben oder einfach Gesellschaft leisten – ich kümmere mich zuverlässig und liebevoll.

Spaziergänge passe ich individuell an das Tier an – je nach Alter, Energielevel und Bedürfnissen. Während der Betreuung halte ich dich regelmäßig mit Updates und Fotos auf dem Laufenden, damit du dein Tier in guten Händen weißt.

Auch in Notfallsituationen bleibe ich ruhig und weiß durch meine Praxiserfahrung, wie ich richtig reagiere und wann tierärztliche Hilfe notwendig ist.

Ich möchte als Tiersitterin arbeiten, weil ich meine Leidenschaft für Tiere auch außerhalb der Praxis ausleben möchte und Tierbesitzer*innen unterstützen will, wenn sie mal keine Zeit haben. Bei mir kannst du sicher sein, dass dein Tier in erfahrenen und liebevollen Händen ist.

Tiere, besonders Hunde, waren schon immer ein wichtiger Teil meines Lebens. Schon seit meiner Kindheit habe ich eine große Liebe zu Tieren, und deshalb habe ich mich entschieden, als Tiersitterin zu arbeiten. Für mich ist es etwas sehr Schönes, Zeit mit Hunden zu verbringen und ihnen Aufmerksamkeit, Bewegung und Zuneigung zu geben, wenn ihre Besitzer einmal beschäftigt oder verreist sind.
Ich habe selbst einen Hund – eine süße Französische Bulldogge namens Bella. Durch sie habe ich viel praktische Erfahrung im täglichen Umgang mit Hunden gesammelt: Spaziergänge, Spielen, Füttern und natürlich auch ganz viel Kuschelzeit. Ich weiß, wie wichtig Routine, Geduld und liebevolle Betreuung für Hunde sind, damit sie sich sicher und wohl fühlen.
Als Tiersitterin ist es mir besonders wichtig, dass sich jedes Tier bei mir entspannt und willkommen fühlt. Ich gehe gerne mit Hunden spazieren, spiele mit ihnen im Park und achte darauf, dass sie genügend Bewegung und Aufmerksamkeit bekommen. Gleichzeitig respektiere ich die Gewohnheiten und Bedürfnisse jedes einzelnen Hundes.
Ich betreue Hunde verantwortungsvoll und mit viel Herz. Für mich sind Haustiere Familienmitglieder, und genauso behandle ich auch die Tiere, auf die ich aufpasse. Idealerweise betreue ich freundliche und geimpfte Hunde, damit sich alle Tiere sicher fühlen können.
Außerdem spreche ich Deutsch, Englisch, Serbisch und Rumänisch, sodass die Kommunikation für viele Haustierbesitzer*innen ganz einfach ist.&nbsp;
