About Gustavo
Hi! I’m Gustavo, a Brazilian artist living in Berlin. I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life, so living with them has always felt natural to me. For me, dogs are family members with their own personalities, emotions, and routines, and I genuinely enjoy getting to know each one individually.
I’ve been dog sitting since 2020, first in Lisbon and later in Berlin, where it has become a regular part of my life. During these years I’ve cared for many different dogs, especially large breeds like German Shepherds, Border Collies and Belgian Malinois. I also have experience with senior dogs, reactive dogs, rescued dogs with past trauma, and dogs with specific habits or routines that simply need someone patient who understands them.
One of the most special dogs in my life was Bolt, a Belgian Malinois. What started as a dog-sitting job became something much bigger when he ended up living with me for almost two years because his family no longer had enough time for him. Living with such an intelligent and energetic breed taught me a lot about structure, consistency, exercise and reading a dog’s body language. It gave me confidence with large working breeds, but more importantly it taught me that every dog is different and deserves to be understood in their own way.
I also have experience caring for cats and I’m happy to discuss home visits for other pets as well.
For dogs staying with me, I live in the Samariter Quarter in Friedrichshain, surrounded by great walking spots. We usually start the day with a long walk through Forckenbeckplatz, where dogs can enjoy the grass, new smells and, if they like, meet other dogs. More active dogs often enjoy longer walks to Blankensteinpark to run, play fetch and burn off energy. If your dog enjoys socialising, Kosmos Hundeauslauf is only about 15 minutes away and is one of my favourite dog parks in the area.
My routine is usually three walks a day: a longer walk in the morning (around 30–60 minutes), a shorter one during the afternoon, and another good walk in the evening. Since I work from home, your dog will spend most of the day with me. I normally go to the gym once a day for around two hours, so dogs staying with me should be comfortable being alone for a short period.
I also offer house sitting, where I stay in your home and follow your dog’s normal routine, as well as one or two daily home visits for feeding, company and playtime. These services also work well for cats and other small pets. Home visits are easiest around Friedrichshain, but I’m always happy to discuss other locations.
I’ll always keep you updated with photos and messages, so you know how your dog is doing while you’re away. If anything unexpected happens, I’ll contact you immediately. There’s also a veterinary practice close to my home that I know and trust if an emergency ever arises.
If you’re looking for someone calm, reliable and genuinely happy to spend time with your dog, I’d love to meet both of you.
