My experience

I have loved dogs all my life and lived with pets since a young age. I have been a regular volunteer at Tierheim Berlin for over a year and a half, which is home to many different dogs with many different requirements. I have walked a huge variety of dogs there - large, small, friendly, nervous, active, strong, cuddly (and more!) - and I would bring this experience with me.

I have experience working as a pet sitter for longer periods of time and have done this in the UK and in New Zealand. Recently I adopted my own dog, who is a large mixed breed from Tierheim Berlin (shown in the first photo). He is very friendly, loves all people and gets on well with other dogs. Of course looking after your dog depends on whether the chemistry is right between the two dogs and this is something I am happy to take some time with.

I love walking and am very active so I am happy to walk energetic dogs or can also run with them (up to 10km) if they enjoy that. I have had experience training dogs in obedience and agility and can also read dog body language well.

What I offer

- walking (with my own dog) -- I have access to parks and forests nearby to me. This can be on or off lead depending on the location and your wishes.

- day care -- I work from home almost always and have very flexible working hours (I work as a researcher at the university) which allows me to have a lot of time for walking and cuddles. I usually do a long morning walk and then an afternoon walk (in the summer this would be evening). Of course the dog would have to get on with my own for this to work but I am happy to take several meetings to make sure it is right.

- overnight stays -- I would be happy to take on your dog overnight or for longer periods while you go away on holiday. This of course again depends on whether our dogs get along. As well as what I describe above, we also go outside before bed. I am happy to stick as closely to your normal routine as possible and follow any health based requirements etc.

My approach to dogs is based on their individual personality but I generally believe that a firm but calm and loving approach is the best way. If you have a certain way you would like your dog to be walked/trained then I am more than happy to follow this as consistency is key!
