Hallo this is Amy! I'm currently having an exchange semester in FU. I can speak English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean, and a little bit of German.

Although I didn’t own a pet, I worked at a dog-and-cat café in my home country Hong Kong, where I gained hands-on experience caring for pets. My responsibilities included playing with dogs and cats, preparing food, and feeding them according to the café’s routines. I also practiced maintaining a safe and clean environment while interacting with animals. Although I may not be fully “smooth” yet in every pet-sitting situation, I am eager to learn from instructions and build confidence through experience and ongoing communication with pet owners.

My motivation to be a pet sitter comes from my love for animals, especially dogs. Dogs give me a lot of energy and joy, and I enjoy building a calm, positive routine that helps them feel safe. During my time at a dog-and-cat café, I learned how important it is to provide gentle interaction, consistent feeding, and attentive care.

Therefore, I would like to use my skills and enthusiasm to support pet owners who need reliable help. I am patient, willing to learn, and I take responsibility seriously, so I can provide friendly companionship and dependable daily care for your pet.

For dog walks, I usually plan walks based on the dog’s age, energy level, comfort and especially past practices. Typically, I can do walks of around 30–60 minutes, including time for sniffing and rest as needed. I would prefer to meet my pet in the owner's presence first, so that we can get to know each other and reduce anxiety caused by unfamiliarity during walks or feedings. But it is optional since it might be hard to schedule an extra time.

Also, to make sure you always feel informed, I communicate clearly from the start: I will confirm details before the booking (feeding instructions, walk route preferences, leash/treat rules, and any “do not” items). After the walk/visit, I will summarize what I did and note anything unusual (for example, if the dog seemed stressed, refused food, had bathroom issues, or showed signs of discomfort).

For the availability, I am free on mostly Monday to Tuesday(Full day), Wednesday(after 5pm) to Thursday(before 3pm) and Saturday. Maximum of two pets for the dog walking at the same time.

I am comfortable with basic tasks related to pet care. I would also double-check details with the owner before starting, and I will follow any specific instructions exactly.

For shy or nervous pets, I use a calm and gentle approach. I move slowly, avoid sudden gestures, and let the pet come to me at their own pace. I also keep routines consistent (for example, feeding and walk timing) so the pet feels secure.  

For energetic or easily overstimulated pets, I focus on structured activity rather than only running around. I balance excitement with short breaks and sniffing time, and I monitor their body language to prevent over-arousal. If a pet becomes too excited, I shift to calmer interaction and reduce intensity until they settle.

I take safety seriously. During walks and visits, I monitor the pet closely for changes in behavior, discomfort, or signs of illness or injury. If something unexpected happens, I remain calm and contact the owner promptly. If the situation requires urgent veterinary attention, I will follow the owner’s instructions first and seek appropriate help as necessary.
