My name is Tanviya de Girval Sapru. I’m 23-years-old, and half Indian and half German. I recently completed my bachelor's degree in Journalism at the London College of Communication, University of The Arts London. Since January 2018, I’ve been working as a journalist at Deutsche Welle in Berlin.

My motivation to be a pet sitter stems from reasons mentioned below. However, it’s important for me to tell you about my most recent pet sitting experiences. Over the past four and half years, when I was living in London, I would look after my aunt and uncle’s cocker spaniel, Feliz. I’d regularly take him for walks to beautiful Chiswick Park, I'd take him to the grooming parlour whenever his hair in winter would get too long and of course, play with him day in and day out! Additionally, I was also babysitting for a family and looking after their dog, Zeus, who is a Portuguese Water Dog. I’d take him for long walks along the Thames river and play with him over the summer of 2017.

I am so grateful to have grown up in a sunny and warm tree-filled compound that accompanied a variety of animals. My three siblings and I never uttered the word “boredom” because if we weren’t playing with each other, we were most definitely playing with and taking care of the dogs, cats and horses. Not to mention, we were so entertained by the species of animals that would always pass through our place, Bose Compound, which is located near the heart of Bangalore, India. The dogs would race from one end of the place to the other whenever a troop of monkeys would swing by to steal some of our mangos from the trees. Similarly, the cats would run as fast as cheetahs whenever they’d see squirrels. It was quite fascinating to see how in the end, all of them learned to mind their own business and live in harmony.
